    1. Sharon, Yes! Well, I’m 56 and have been able to get and keep a flat tummy for over 5 years. The way I do it, high intensity interval training 3-4 x’s weekly, weight training (doesn’t have to be heavy weights), eat clean, eat 5 small meals each day with portions about the size of my palm, drink lots of plain water, and remain consistent. I hope this helps! Keep me posted. 🙂 gale@skinnyms.com

  2. wow sharon, you sound just like me. i am 53, ra in knees, try to eat right. but getting really big belly too.
skinny, when you say high intensity interval…exactly what does that entail ?

  3. I'm 51 and have arthritis in my hips, knees and ankles among other places. I used to have the pregnant belly look but in an attempt to find out if a lot of it was bloat, I went gluten free for three days…while I didn't notice a lot on the bloat factor, what I DID notice was that the pain in my hips, knees and ankles had disappeared. I did some research to see if the gluten could have been causing pain and found that it was indeed. Of course just reading it wasn't enough for me so I started eating pasta, breads etc again and sure enough the pain was back. So July 8th I changed my eating lifestyle to omit gluten, refined sugars, bad fats added a weight loss supplement and I've lost 17lbs so far, belly is shrinking like crazy! It's SO nice to be pain free and losing weight!

  4. I have thyroid issues and have gained 20 lbs in the last year. Because of the severe fatigue sometimes exercise is impossible. Most of the weight is in my belly area. So frustrating! I used to be healthy and happy.

    1. We’re sorry to hear, Kim. Don’t give up. A clean diet and regular moderate exercise can help tremendously. In addition, to reducing unwanted belly fat, it will increase your energy levels and encourage you to feel good about your body.

  5. I’m growing increased concern trying to lose weight lately over the past two month. I’ve started taking a different antidepressant called Trintellix, and I think is causing significant weight gain. Seem to be working though. I don’t work out and I’ve recently fell of my gluten free diet and started drinking lots more water and unfortunately more wine weekly too. Can you give me any advice on how to lose my belly?

    1. Pam, We have lots of information on the site regarding losing belly fat. Also, are you aware that stress can cause belly fat? If you are having health issues, I recommend contacting your doctor.
