7-Day Love Your Abs Workout Challenge

Everyone wants a six pack for aesthetic reasons. The benefits of a defined core go far beyond appearances. Strong abdominal muscles can help improve your posture, taking some pressure off of your spine, and thus helping prevent back pain. A strong core will also help improve your balance, sports performance, and can even make day-to-day housework easier.

If you’re ready to reap all of these amazing benefits, we invite you to undertake this 7-Day Love Your Abs Workout Challenge. The challenge consists of 3 exercises per day that you can perform before or after your regular workout. You can combine these moves with weight lifting, cardio, yoga, or fitness classes. Additionally, you can choose what level you’re at for this challenge: beginners, intermediate, or advanced. Let’s get to it and let’s show our abdominals some love!

What You’ll Need: Gym mat or bath towel; Medium medicine ball or dumbbell (8 – 15 lb.)

What to Do: Complete the three exercises before or after your regular workout.


Beginner: 2 rounds
Intermediate: 3 rounds
Advanced: 4 rounds

Day 1 & 3
1. Weighted Russian Twist – 40 reps, 20 each side
2. Bent-Leg Jackknife Crunch – 15 reps
3. 30-second Plank

Day 2, 4 & 6
1. Mountain Climbers – 30 reps, 15 each side
2. Leg Raises – 12 reps
3. Toe-Touches – 30 reps, 15 each side

Day 5 & 7
1. Weighted Russian Twist – 50 reps, 25 each side
2. Straight-Leg Jackknife – 12 reps
3. 60-second Plank
