9 Energy Boosting Breakfast Smoothies

Fuel up!

We love our smoothies, and once you try mixing them up during your morning routine, we think you’ll love breakfast smoothies too. Not only are they easy—just throw your ingredients in the blender and hit the button—smoothies pack a ton of nutrients into a single drink. Plus, you can drink them in the car or on the subway, bus or train, much easier than trying to finagle a breakfast sandwich or other packaged edible.

The perfect energy smoothie contains a few key ingredients: a hearty fruit or veggie, which brings fiber and flavor; an energy booster, like flax seeds, nuts or protein powder; and a liquid to smooth everything together. In many of the recipes below, almond milk is a great liquid option because it’s creamy and filled with protein, which fuels your body. For an extra dose of creaminess and protein, blend a little Greek yogurt into the mix.

You’ll quickly discover which flavors you like best and can build your own smoothie tailored to your tastes. These 9 energy boosting breakfast smoothies are great recipes to get you started with a wholesome, nutrient rich breakfast.

    1. Seeds, like pumpkin or sunflower, make an excellent substitution for nuts. If you are looking for healthy fats, you can also use 1/2 of an avocado or a tablespoon of coconut oil.
