First, core and thinly slice your apples. Place the sliced apples on a cookie sheet, sprinkle with cinnamon, and bake them at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour. Flip the apple slices over so they cook evenly, and bake them for another hour until they appear nice and crispy. Remove the apple chips from the oven and allow them to cool.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples cored and thinly sliced
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place the sliced apples on top.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon (to taste).
  • Bake for two hours. After 60 minutes, turn each slice over so they bake evenly. You should check on them after 60 minutes and every 30 minutes after that because oven cook times vary and you don’t want to burn them.
  • Once they look nice and crispy, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool.

  1. I'm confused because the recipe says to core the apples, however the picture doesn't look as if those apples were cored. ???

    1. I saw that, too, but then I noticed on the nutrition facts it says 0 Smart Points. I’m not counting anything if I eat an apple. Haha

    2. Dried fruits have points because without the water they are less filling, so it is easier to eat more. That same idea as why a smoothie make entirely of fruits and veggies has points: easier to consume more when you are drinking it 🙂

    1. Hi, Kathryn. Yes, all of our measurements are in US Customary. The recipe should be baked at 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

    1. Jenn, Sure! Turn the dehydrator to 135ºF. The apples will need to dehydrate for about 8 hours or until they reach the desired crispness.

  6. Do I turn the oven off 60 min into baking and than check on the 30 min later or do I bake them for 2 hours than turn it off?

    1. Do not turn off your oven. Turn the apples over half way though baking (after 60 minutes) and check them every 30 minutes while they bake.
