Satisfy your sweet tooth with these yummy brownies!

If you want to satisfy your chocolate craving without adding another notch to your belt, try our fabulous Fudge Brownie Bites! Like most of our dessert recipes, this recipe is quick and easy, making it very convenient for those who need a quick sugar fix. Surprisingly, there is no real sugar in the recipe. The sweetness comes from dates, also known as “nature’s candy.” For substitutions, you can replace the dates with prunes and the walnuts with Brazil nuts. These special treats have a long refrigerator life and an even longer freezer life. You can make an extra large batch and pop them in the freezer for an abundance of future goodies. Of all the brownie recipes we’ve tested, this healthy option is the tastiest.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup almonds raw
  • 1/2 cup walnuts raw
  • 1/4 cup cocoa good quality
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dates no added sweeteners
  • 1 tablespoon water use additional water if needed
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa optional

Instructions

  • In a food processor combine walnuts ad almonds and pulse to a crumb-like consistency...being sure to leave some coarse pieces for texture. Remove nuts and place in a medium bowl.
  • Combine crumbled nuts with cocoa and vanilla, mix with a large spoon.
  • Add dates to the food processor and pulse several times until they are a gooey consistency.
  • This is very important...must be very gooey, as in one big ball. Add to nut mixture along with vanilla and water. You will need to use your hands to knead the mixture until there is one large ball...this will take a few minutes. Shape into 1-2 inch truffles as seen in photo.
  • Combine additional cocoa and sprinkle on half of the truffles (optional). If preferred, shape into small bars instead of balls. Cover and refrigerate. Enjoy!

  1. I made these yesterday and they are wonderful!! I will tell you, though,  think it depends on they type of dates you use as to how much water to put in.  Seems the dates I bought were dry and the 1/2 cup of water was a bit to much…..BUT , I got it to work. Had to put part of the water  as the dates were in the food processor. I can't seem to find the nice gooey/chewy dates. Think those would work best.  Am on the look-out for those.

This recipe is a keeper for sure and I did share it with my friends.

  3. These look amazing! Do you know the fiber content? I'm trying to figure out WW points+ but I need fiber. I asked this on FB too so if you answer there you don't have to answer here. Thanks!

  4. My problem is I wouldn't be able to stop with just one. I'd want to have several of those wonderful looking things. 🙂

  5. I have a tree nut allergy. I'm afraid if I leave out the nuts they wouldn't work or be as tasty. Any substitutes you could recommend or have you tried them without nuts? Thanks!

  6. I know this is an old post, but we just started a no sugar challenge and I am having a hard time finding dates in my area. Is there a substitute that would just as well? Thank you

  7. I made these in 20 minutes (start to finish!) and used 1 c walnuts because I didn’t have any almonds on hand. These were a hit!
To finish, I rolled them in coconut sugar (the perfect consistency!), baking cocoa, and powdered sugar (the powdered sugar coated best when it was sifted over the bites). Next time, I may try making some with oats instead of the nuts for friends who are nut-free. Thank you for this FANTASTIC recipe!
