If you need more motivation to get fit, here are the 75 best songs to add to your iPod workout playlist to keep you inspired.

There is always an excuse for why we can’t workout…the laundry, grocery store, errands, career, kids’ schedules…and it doesn’t just happen. Committing to feeling your best inside and out takes dedication and a lot of hard work.

When I put my ipod on and get moving on a sunny day, everything else disappears. It is my time to think, focus on myself, and take care of my body and spirit. Running has become my passion, but music can be extremely motivating for whatever exercise you choose. Part of staying dedicated is zeroing in on why you want to get fit. There are a myriad of reasons why we finally decide to commit, and it can be extremely personal, reaching beyond the upcoming bikini season.

After the birth of my second child I decided to run a half marathon with my neighbor. I had never run more than a mile before, but I knew it would be a feasible way to get my body back, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience for me. I came to enjoy many aspects of running, most importantly that I could leave from my house and be done in 30 minutes, knowing that I had a great workout. Race day was exhilarating, the atmosphere charged with excitement and adrenaline. I immediately knew that I would keep running.

Three months after the half marathon, I had a suspicious mole removed. Skin cancer didn’t run in my family, and I truly didn’t think too much of it. A week later I received a call from my dermatologist telling me that the mole was melanoma, but it wasn’t life threatening “this time” since they caught it early. Less than a week later I kissed my husband and two young sons goodbye as I was wheeled into surgery to have any excess cells removed and be cleared of melanoma. The experience was a huge shock to me, scary as anything, and tremendously eye opening. We all know that health is everything, yet sometimes it takes an unfortunate situation such as this one to bring focus to what is really important. I was so thankful that the cancer was caught early, yet I was angry at my seemingly healthy body.

My twin sister called shortly after my surgery to ask me if I would run the Philadelphia marathon with her, and before I could even think about it, I said yes and registered. I was excited to do something positive with my body and feel confident in my health again. The marathon was a huge success, truly one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. I say it was the fourth best day I ever had, after my wedding and the birth of my children. I had a smile on my face the entire way, thrilled to my core with what I had trained my body and mind to accomplish. I felt incredibly happy and healthy, and it was a way for me to put my melanoma scare behind me.

Since then I have run the Houston Marathon, also with my twin sister. My goal this year is to get my husband running, and for us to accomplish a half marathon together.

There are days I don’t feel like getting up and exercising, but once I turn on my ipod and go, I am always happy I did. Music is extremely motivating to me, and this Supreme iPod Playlist just may motivate you too on the days when you don’t feel especially energetic. This list is comprised of mostly Top 40 and a tad of cool Country. I hope these songs appeal to most of you because they make me want to get up and GO!

  1. On my own opinion, I think that I would really get inspired with these 76 songs. I know that many people would like to make use of this song on their plan to lose weight. I think that would be able to make use of those songs as well.

  2. Great list! I would add "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. Always gets me going!

On a related note, have you seen the recent news about warding off skin cancer with caffeine and a workout? Win-Win!

  3. I also had an early stage melanoma diagnosis. And you have a U2 song in your list. So you are alright by me 🙂

    1. Amber, Thanks for the info. We’re putting together an ‘old school’ list of play songs! We’ll be sure to add Eye of the Tiger 🙂

  6. "my body" by young the giant.

"my body tells me no, but I won't quit cause I want more…" Words to motivate me

  7. I personally like "Titanium" by David Guetta… That song ALWAYS gets me moving faster when I am doing my daily walk! 🙂

  8. Great post! It took me some downloading 😉 but I got the job done. These songs are great to workout on. I really love to workout on house music such as Nicky Romero, Afrojack or Hardwell. I've seen them live several times and its always great music to use during training. Thank you and keep up the good work!

  9. Thanks for this, will add it to my repertoire of songs I listen to at the gym!! Love Rascall Flatts and try Bruno Mars

  10. I would suggest "The boogie that be" by Black eye peas, "I am the best" by 2ne1, "Oh Yeah" by GD and TOP, and "The Boys" by Girl's Generation. They all are great pop and hip hop songs to get you pumped up. The beat is just awesome that it lets you bring that inner energy out.
