Two healthy fruits that add up to one delicious, easy shake!

One of the best ways to make sure you are eating clean and healthy is to make things simple. Cutting down on the number of ingredients in your recipes is a great way to ensure that your getting a whopping dose of the fruits and veggies that are good for you, without adding a lot of foods that don’t offer nutritional value, or might add refined, processed ingredients, or excess fat and calories to your recipes. One of our favorite examples of simple, clean eating is this mango and kiwi shake. A healthy shake doesn’t need a load of sugar to taste great; it just needs fresh, naturally sweet fruits!

Mango is the basis for this tasty shake. It’s rich in antioxidants that prevent several types of cancer, including breast, colon, and prostate cancers. It contains a hearty amount of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion, helps to stabilize your blood sugar, and keeps you feeling full for longer periods of time. Its vitamin C content make it a great immune booster, while its abundance of vitamin A benefits the eyes and skin. Plus, it has a uniquely tropical, sweet taste that makes a delicious drink.

Kiwi is sweet with a slightly tart flavor reminiscent of strawberries that balances the mango perfectly. Kiwi contains a huge load of vitamin C, a renowned immune booster. It also contains vitamin K, a ton of fiber, and numerous phytonutrients and antioxidants that fight heart disease and cancer. Pair these two powerhouses in one scrumptious shake, and you’ve got an easy-to-prepare breakfast or snack that fuels your body with all of the right nutrients!

Mango and Kiwi Shake

With only three healthy and tasty ingredients, this shake is a simple treat both kids and adults will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 green mango unripe, (can be yellow too) or ripe mango *note that the unripe, green mango imparts a unique flavor and should be tried if available
  • 1 kiwi green or yellow
  • 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons coconut sugar raw (if using a ripe mango, it is not necessary to add sweetener)
  • 1 cup water
  • ice

Instructions

  • In a blender, pulse all the ingredients together until smooth.
  • Serve immediately.
