Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

Comforting and hearty, these scalloped potatoes will be the highlight of any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk whole
  • 4 garlic cloves peeled and smashed
  • 2 tablespoons thyme leaves fresh
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 pounds potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese low-fat, shredded
  • salt to taste
  • ground pepper fresh, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put all of the ingredients except for the potatoes and cheese in a saucepan and heat over medium-low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Layer the potatoes in a casserole dish, seasoning with salt and pepper between layers. Pour the milk over the top and cover with foil. Bake for 45 minutes and remove from oven.
  • Top with the cheese and bake for 15-20 more minutes, until cheese is browned and bubbly.
