I have all the ingredients except the coconut palm sugar, optional sucanat. What can be used instead?
Stacey, I prefer using an unrefined sweetener. In a pinch, use honey or maple syrup. Also, Turbinado sugar will work.
Thank you!
The apple crisp looks delicious….but, who could eat only 1/2 cup? The picture must show 2 or 3 servings….sad!
Carol, The photo shows what the dish looks like, not a serving size. We recommend 1/2 cup serving size for most desserts…portion control.
I assume that's 3/4 CUP whole wheat flour? I hope so because it's in my slow cooker right now!
Anita, Yes. 🙂
Dawn, It’s a misprint…should read 198 mg sodium.
I can't eat sugar. Would Spenda for baking work?
Janet, Hmmmmmm….not sure since we don’t use splenda. What about stevia?
What are sucant and Turbinado sugar and where can I get them?
Toni, Turbinado is next to the white sugar in the grocery store. You may have to go to a speciality store, like Whole Foods or Trader Joes to purchase sucanat.
Sugar in the Raw is a version of turbinado, isn't it? I've used it in the past when recipes call for that. I'll just use that, I'm mentally adverse to the word "coconut". 🙂
asimplegoddess, Sugar in the raw and turbinado sugar are the same thing:).
Can I use Instant oats?
Maricris, Not with this recipe…doesn’t work with the slow cooker.
My husband got rolled hot cereal by red mill. Is that ok?
Maricria, That should work!
What size slow cooker? I 3 different sizes
Rhea, A 4 qt size slow cooker will be sufficient.
can i use steel cut oats?
Kara, Steel cut oats will not work a well, no.
Does that mean we can replace the olive oil with the coconut oil or in addition?
Thank you
Mike, You can use olive oil in place of, not in addition too.
Do you use the palm sugar & sucanat?
Hi, Bonnie. you would use one or the other.
