smoothie recipes to help you slim down

We’d like to invite you to join us on a three day cleanse & detox! Don’t worry – this isn’t one of those detox programs that will have you drinking nothing but lemon juice and honey water. Our program is designed to kickstart your healthy eating plan and cleanse your system from the inside out. The cleanse & detox shopping list is filled with whole, clean, and healthy foods. We’ve made you a 3 day juice cleanse shopping list to help you!

Choosing to cleanse your body means removing toxins, and a big part of that is getting rid of refined ingredients. Our 3 day juice cleanse shopping list is filled with fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. Everything you need to keep you fueled during the cleanse.

Below, you will find our 3 day juice cleanse shopping list for the three day cleanse & detox, or download the entire list. We purchased all of the ingredients (minus just a few items we already had on hand). Our grand total was only $54.32. Keep in mind that your cost will depend on where you shop and whether you choose to buy organic. If you have access to a local farmer’s market, that’s a great place to get started for buying most of the items on this cleanse & detox shopping list.

A Few Detox Considerations

Before you get started with our 3 day juice cleanse shopping list for your 3-day cleanse & detox, there are a few considerations you should keep in mind. We would recommend that you think about these things before buying your ingredients (just in case the cleanse & detox isn’t for you). And, as always, consult with a doctor before starting any new diet or workout program.

No Caffeine

Sorry folks, but caffeine should not be consumed during this cleanse & detox. If you’re a heavy caffeine user, we suggest that you slowly ween yourself off caffeine before attempting the cleanse. Going cold-turkey on caffeine can cause headaches and other negative side effects.

Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free

This detox features all dairy-free and gluten-free ingredients. That’s great for those of you who are already following those types of diets! For the rest of you: this could be a good introduction to dairy-free and gluten-free eating, so don’t be afraid of going hungry. The ingredients are so fresh and fulfilling that you’ll definitely feel satisfied.

Whole Foods

Most of the recipes feature whole foods like fruits, seeds, raw nuts, vegetables, and herbs. You might think that eating that way is expensive, but we were able to buy everything on the cleanse & detox shopping list for under $60! This is a perfect way to connect with Whole30-style eating.

Get Ready for an Experience

Everyone’s experience will differ. Some may have a headache and others feel  little weak during the cleanse & detox. On the other hand, some people report that they have more energy than usual! So just keep in mind that your experience on this cleanse and detox will be unique to your body.

If you don’t drink green smoothies or juices on a regular basis, your taste buds are in for a surprise. No matter what you think about the flavor, just stick with it. Those buds will come around, and you’ll begin to enjoy the nutrient richness of whole foods. Your body will thank you!

Be Prepared

As with any change in diet, we recommended that you check with your doctor before beginning the cleanse & detox. If you are allergic to any ingredients, do not include them in your cleanse; you may use alternatives. This plan was adapted from the book, Hungry for Change – Ditch the Diets, Conquer the Cravings, and Eat Your Way to Lifelong Health.

If you think you’ll be juicing after the cleanse ends, we recommend buying a high-powered juicer (like this Breville juicer). Otherwise, you can use any kind of blender and add water to the drink recipes to make them work. Which is better? Really it’s a matter of personal preference.

Juicers will create a thinner drink that is closer to the consistency of juice. It’s just juice – no pulp. On the other hand, the blender leaves 100% of the pulp and produce a much thicker drink. Since we’re a huge fan of all that fiber, we prefer not to give up one ounce of the nutrients.

Now, without further ado, get the cleanse & detox shopping list and get started! You can view the list on our page below, or you can click the link to download your free copy.

  1. Anything I can sub for the walnuts?? I can handle the almonds if they are mixed/ground in to something but if not and they are to be eaten as a snack, anything to sub for them as well?

    1. I've heard if you chopped or ground them up and added them to one of the recipes it will work. That way you are still getting them in your diet. I'm going to do it that way, I'm like you, I can't eat them whole.

  2. My husband and I want to start this on Tuesday so hopefully you have time to get back with me… I am also wondering the servings; should I double the shopping list in order to work for two people?

    1. Lisa, Yes you will need to double the ingredients for two. Please read thru the detox recipes before shopping since a few of the ingredients are optional. I do recommend the quinoa for added protein but as I said, it's optional. In three days without gluten, my stomach was totally flat. Hmmmm…what does that say about gluten? Keep us posted, can't wait for your and your husband's results!

      1. Thank you! With a toddler and an infant and both of us working full-time I really hope we can get through it. It’s a last minute idea to get this started but we are looking forward to it even though our eating habits suck and nothing green sounds good lol

        1. Lisa, Good luck to you and hubby! Can't wait to hear your results. I used to hate vegetables and now crave. 🙂

  3. Rock solid plan here. Thank you. I'm lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive so this works perfectly for me. I would also add that eating organic fruits and veggies is much better than conventional.

  4. Looks great!
Question.. so will this juice be the only thing to be consumed 3 days for every meal time?
or it needs to be supplemented with something else too?

    thanks

  5. Is it ok to switch the order of meals? Like salad for lunch and soup for dinner one day and switch them the next?

  6. This detox has been great! I am on day three and feel amazing. I have a few questions:
    1. For the afternoon juice, does it have to be a mean green juice? I saw some kiwi juice on your blog that looks amazing.
    2. For breakfast coconut smoothie, can you supplement coconut milk with soy chocolate oy almond milk?
    2. Is this safe to continue for more than 3 days?

    1. Whit, (answers below)

      1) The greens are necessary for protein. What about tossing in a kiwi with the mean green juice?
      2) Yes, feel free to sub with either coconut or almond milk.
      3) I’ve done this cleanse for up to 7 days and felt phenomenal afterwards. The difference with this cleanse is that you’re are still eating whole foods. Check with your doctor but just the fact that the foods in the cleanse are all “good for you food”, I think she will say, it’s fine. 🙂

  7. Is it ok to do the Coconut Milk Smoothie each morning or is it recommended to switch it up? I was thinking of doing it Day 1 and Day 3.

  8. I want to buy the stuff for the 3 day clense, but does the shopping list include everything for every recipe, or is the shopping list just for a specific meal plan. If so, what was it?

  9. Quick qu on the soup; I don't have a slow cooker. Anyone know the right timings on a normal hob, low setting? Thanks!

  10. I tried this cleanse, but the green smoothies are terrible. I ended up dumping down the disposal. This is my first attempt at a cleanse or smoothies. If I were to try it again, I would adjust the amounts of cilantro, celery and cucumber to my tastes. The salad was wonderful!

    1. Alison, It's more of a cleanse to feel refreshed and get some of the junk out of our systems, and does not necessarily result in any weight loss. That said, it could be used to jump start into a clean eating plan with one of our weight loss menus.

  11. I'm trying this cleanse today. Just to note, I think there are 2 things missing from the Shopping List poster the vegetable broth and olive oil. 😉

  12. Okay I have been searching all over I see the 3 day cleanse & detox shopping list but where are the instructions? I thought I saw it but heck I don't see it now, help please!!

    1. Dee, The avocado in the salad is optional and can be omitted, or you can add 8 additional almonds or walnuts in place of it. For banana in any smoothies, you can add 1/2 cup fresh or frozen berries for every 1/2 banana.

  13. Being allergic to coconut, tree nuts, seeds and seafood makes it so difficult and so boring to eat healthy…these foods make eating healthy so much more delicious.

  14. okay, so, I am a 31 year old man, and I want to start eating right and getting into shape, cause, I am engaged to a beautiful girl. we are getting married in may. Any tips on what to do in order to combine this with a workout plan? I know that I am a little bit late to the game, but that’s the story of my life ^^

    1. Tom, Of course! Sounds like a lucky lady to get a guy who’s willing to go the extra mile. 🙂
      Here’s a plan:
      1. Start using salad plates for all meals, no exceptions. All portions should fit (you’ll need to eyeball it here) in the palm of your hand.
      2. Eat 3 small meals each day and 2-3 healthy snacks.
      3. NO JUNK FOOD OR FAST FOOD. NO EXCEPTIONS.
      4. Do at least 20-30 minutes of HIIT 6 days a week.
      5. Eat as clean as possible.

Best wishes and keep us posted. You can do this!

  15. Hi Me & my sister we just finished the grocery shopping and so excited to start the detoxe …..
    Much love
    We will keep u updated

    1. Kim, It should be fine since the foods you will be eating provide plenty of energy. 🙂

    1. Tiff, That will depend on the individual. Think of this detox as a kickstart to a healthy eating plan that becomes a lifestyle. 🙂

  16. Hi. Hope it’s not too late to ask a question. I absolut dislike cilantro, Cani omit or should I substitute with something else?
    Thanks

    1. You can omit the cilantro, Becky! It may change the nutritional value slightly, but nothing too drastic.

    1. KiKiMarie, almost any herbal tea is good to drink while on a cleanse. Try ginger or peppermint.

  17. I see quinoa on the shopping list, however I can’t see it in any of the recipes. I love quinoa and hope it wasn’t added in error! Thank you in advance. I’m looking forward to starting this 🙂
