A kid-friendly recipe that the whole family will love!
If you’ve ever attended a fall festival or summer carnival, chances are good that you’ve experienced the joy that is caramel apples! If you love this sweet and simple treat as much as we do, you’re going to fall head-over-heels for our Apple Nachos Supreme recipe.Â
Trading Cheese for Caramel
When you think of nachos, you probably envision a bunch of chips drowning in melted cheese, black beans, guacamole, and a host of other colorful or spicy ingredients. Not this time: Our Apple Nachos Supreme is exactly the opposite!Â
This sweet and savory take on the popular comfort meal spotlights apple slices in place of tortilla chips, and creamy caramel instead of melted cheese. In addition to the crisp apples and caramel drizzle, these nacho look-alikes also incorporate pecans, lemon juice, and chocolate chips. This combination creates a mouthwatering mixture that’s bursting with tangy, chocolaty goodness.

The Importance of Lemon Juice
The first step in the instructions is to toss the apple chunks in lemon juice. Why do we do this? Lemon juice keeps the apples from getting soft and brown. The citric acid in the lemon juice is an antioxidant. When applied to the apple chunks, it halts the oxidation process in its tracks, leaving you with fresh-looking, crisp apple chunks!
A Healthier Dessert Alternative
This crisp treat is an excellent, nutritious option that will satisfy your sweet tooth when those cravings strike! Each serving of this scrumptious dessert contains fewer than 250 calories. Plus, it offers your body some real nutrition (which is more than most desserts can claim). With ingredients like high-fiber apples, heart-healthy pecans, and antioxidant-rich dark chocolate, you can indulge in this dessert without any guilt at all!
In addition to fiber, apples are a wonderful source of vitamin C. Meanwhile, pecans and dark chocolate carry a hefty dose of iron, manganese, selenium, and zinc. Vitamin C is most well-known for supporting a healthy immune system, which is vital to living your healthiest life. The vitamins found in the pecans and dark chocolate also support the immune system while aiding in energy production.

How is it nachos??
Chris, Just the name we came up with!
Maybe eat it with graham crackers as the scoop? Then it's more like nachos? Looks delicious! I bet that'd be amazing over icecream too, just like a pie!
I make these but just cut the apples with an apple slicer. Then drizzle on the carmel and throw on anything else. Works great!
Try cutting up a banana to eat with this…amazing! Apple and banana nachos…
I to am trying to figure out how to serve this
Donna, It’s a fun recipe when company is over. Also, makes a delicious treat for barbecues.
Apples cut into 1/4 inch cubes? Is that even possible? Did you mean slices?
Yes, slices. Thank you for catching that!
