Why We Recommend Crunchy Peanut Butter
Okay, we know some of you out there are creamy peanut butter lovers. The reason we like to make our Skinny Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip with chunky peanut butter is because it creates a satisfying crunch. Often times, I find myself craving something crunchy just as much as something sweet! If you really dislike chunky peanut butter (or, you just never have it around the house), swap-in creamy peanut butter. You can also make your own to leave things chunky.
In fact, you can use your favorite type of nut butter for this recipe. Yes, that includes almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower butter, or anything else you use on the regular. Here are some of the healthiest nut butter brands on the market.
Some of our followers have recommended using PB2, a powdered form of peanut butter where the oils are removed. Here’s a great clean-eating, organic brand of PB2 if you can’t find it at the local grocery store.

Add a scoop of protein powder, vanilla, and stevia…tons of protein and flavor!
you can make this even lighter by using pb2 in place of the peanut butter! So yummy!
LOVE PB2
what is pb2?
Hi Jane. PB2 is powdered peanut butter. Here's a fantastic organic brand: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B006UM6D94…
@Janae how much pb2 would you recommend using?
Melissa, what is pb2?
PB2 is a powdered defatted peanut butter that you reconstitute with water. It doesn't taste exactly like regular peanut butter, but it's pretty close and it is much better for you.
No, PB2 is not "much better for you". Natural peanut butter is loaded with healthy calories and fats. Just because it's high in these macros does not make it bad for you. In fact, PB2's extra sugar can work against you and store more fat. Natural fats actually work against fat storage.
It's a powdered form of peanut butter where most of the oil has been removed. Tiny amounts of sugar and salt are added in but, the calorie content is way less than regular peanut butter. I've read reviews were some people say it's just OK tasting… but I love it. I'm used to eating fresh ground peanut butter (not Jiffy) and it tastes great to me… I like to snack on the powder itself (without reconstituting) as well
Layjay, So happy you enjoyed it! 🙂
You so very welcome!
PB2 is like, powdered peanut butter. It has much less fat and calories, but is a more processed food, in my opinion. It's good if you want a peanut butter flavor with less calories, like in smoothies and stuff. It's kind of gross if you do what the box says and mix it with water to reconstitute though.
I LOVE PB2!
I've made something very close to this and added a dash of cinnamon and pure vanilla, it gives it a certain "something" that is amazing!!!
I love PB2 but it is an unusual texture at first 🙂 However this would be a great way to use it!
Mmm, delicious! I added some honey to mine.
where can you buy PB2??
A health food or vitamin store.
Publix and Rouses and I think Fresh Market have it down here
I love this! I added a t of local honey and used natural pb–peanuts only! It is not just a dip but makes a great spread! I put it in my Ezekiel bread this morning instead of my usual natural pb and it was great!
Delicious dip for my apple with cinnamon sprinkled over it. Love this!
Can any one tell me how many tablespoons this recipe makes? The recipe says "Serving size: 2 tablespoons", but I would like to know the total.
thanks,
Leah
Llll, This recipe yields 3/4 cup / 12 tablespoons which is 6 servings at two tablespoons each.
has anyone tried this with Almond Butter in place of the peanut butter?
Yes, this recipe works with almond butter, too.
I put a teaspoon of peanut butter in my strawberry cheesecake Greek yogurt and eat it that way by itself
I think the calorie content per serving is off. I came up with 77 calories per serving not 40; each serving is 2 tablespoons and there's a total of 12 servings per batch. I used Trader Joe's non-fat Greek yogurt and Simple Truth (Kroger) organic natural peanut butter. Anyone else come up with this as well? I'd love it even more if it were truly 40 calories per serving! 🙂 (still, way better than just 2 tablespoons of peanut butter of course) Thank you!
There are six 2 tablespoon servings. Not twelve. And 110 calories for half cup of my Greek yogurt plus 380 for 1/4 cup of my peanut butter divided by 6 equals 82 calories. Everyone make sure you do your math!
I cannot tolerate greek yogurt. Would a regular vanilla yogurt work with this? Thanks!
Yes, that will work fine. We use plain because it doesn’t have added sweetners.
Gale,
How many servings can you eat for a snack?
Lois
Lois, We recommend one serving size, in this case 2 tablespoons Dip. 🙂
I just ran this through recipe builder and it is actually 2 Smart Points for 2 Tablespoons.
Cynthia, I just rechecked the SmartPoints and again got 1 SP.
I also got 2 smart points.
1/2 cup Greek yohurt is 1 point
1/4 cup pb is 12 points
That’s 13 total points in 3/4 cup
12 tablespoons in 3/4 cup
So it’s roughly a point/tablespoon or 2 points for a 2 tablespoon serving.
Brooke, Just recalculated and you’re right, 2 smart points per serving. Thank you!:)
Just made this tonight as I’m having major cravings for some apple pie!
I saw this recipe last week and bought the stuff to make it.
I whipped up some tonight and ate it with an apple…perfect to satisfy my sweet tooth!
I used a little less peanut butter and added about 1-2 tsp of honey and some dark chocolate chips on top and dipped my apple slices in it…yummy!!
I gave up dairy and now on the alkaline diet. I will mix coconut yogurt with almond butter, lemon juice and add coconut flakes.
Sounds yummy.
Marina, YUM!
Hi: 2 points for 2 tablespoon which is the serving size, Would this new info change the nutrion information such calories?
Thank you.
Jessa, Yes, many of the points will change. It’s a major project since we have nearly 2K recipes. We’ll get started as soon as possible.
When you say “natural” peanut butter, are you asuuuming it contains no added sugars?
Correct. Natural meaning no added sugars. Clean eating natural peanut butter should be as simple as possible.
I’ve made this using the PB2 – Chocolate and Peanut Butter. Great on both strawberries and banana slices. (PB2 also good in almond milk/banana smoothie!)
Great tip Kelly! 🙂
How much PB2 to replace the natural peanut butter in this recipe?
Brenda, The ratio is approximately 1 T PB2 to 2 T Peanut Butter.
