Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients
- 8 ounces whole-wheat spaghetti
- 1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 3/4 cup carrots finely chopped
- 3/4 cup celery finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 pound lean ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 24 ounces marinara sauce jar, no sugar added
Instructions
- Prepare and drain spaghetti according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, pour olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add onions, carrots, celery, and salt. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, until onions have softened.
- Add garlic, ground meat, oregano, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the meat is browned and cooked through. Add the marinara sauce, stir, and bring to a simmer.
- Add cooked spaghetti to meat sauce and toss to coat.
- Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, if desired.
