  • 1/2 cup cold butter cut into cubes, vegan stick butter can be substituted
  • 2 cups all purpose white flour or whole wheat flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup 1% milk for a vegan option use soy milk

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Combine all ingredients, except milk, in a food processor. Pulse until a fine crumb forms, the mixture should look like small pebbles or sand. Keep this mixture cold until ready to move on to the next step. This can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator or freezer until you're ready to add the milk and bake!
  • Pour the flour and butter mixture into a mixing bowl and gradually add the milk until a sticky dough forms. Drop the dough by the spoonful (a little less than 1/4 cup of dough per scoop) on to the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve hot or cold with your favorite toppings such as butter, honey, jam, or nut butter!
  • Pro Tip: to spice up your biscuits add your favorite herbs and seasonings or even a little cheese! For a shortcake option increase the sugar to 2 tablespoons and add a spash of vanilla extrat and serve with fresh berries.
