Slow Cooker Easy Italian Meatballs

With healthy ingredient swaps and fragrant Italian seasonings, these meatballs are out-of-this-world delicious.

  • 1 pound ground turkey or chicken
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion finely minced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat panko breadcrumbs lightly pulsed in a food processor
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 24 ounces marinara jar, no sugar added
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese fat-free, shredded


  • Preheat oven to high broil and spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray.
  • Combine all ingredients, except marinara, chicken broth, and parmesan in a large bowl and mix well. Form into 1 inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet. Broil for about 5 minutes until lightly browned (meatballs will not be fully cooked).
  • Place the browned meatball the slow cooker and add the marinara and broth. Cook on low for 4 hours. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve.
