Learn how to beat those triggers once and for all.
16. De-stress.
Stress is a major weight-gain trigger. Meditate, take a walk, watch a movie, or do anything else you need to do in order to stay calm, focused, and stress-free.
17. Skip the soda.
Avoid soda, juice, energy drinks, and other sugary drinks. You’ll get a quick pick-me-up, but will crash soon after, and want to consume more sugar and calories. You can ween yourself off of soda by switching to sparkling water instead!
18. Keep busy.
Many of us start noshing when we’re bored. The next time you absentmindedly reach for a chocolate bar, find something to occupy yourself with for 15 minutes. Chances are, your need for that chocolate bar won’t be so strong.
19. Hydrate.
Thirst sometimes masquerades as hunger, so when you’re suddenly hungry, drink a glass of water and wait a little while to see if your hunger subsides. Staying hydrated also helps with digestion, regulating your metabolism, and your immune system. Try these 12 Easy Ways to Increase Your Water Intake.
20. Don’t deprive yourself.
It’s important to treat yourself every now and then. If you completely cut yourself off from all of the unhealthy foods you love, you’ll only binge on them later.
21. Be body positive.
Weight loss isn’t about getting a “beach body” or fitting into a certain size, it’s about taking care of yourself. We cherish and want to take care of the people and things we love. If you love the body you have, you’ll want to nourish it and take good care of it.
