The way you think affects the way you act.
Most people struggle with losing weight. It can feel impossible – trying diet after diet and struggling to fit exercise into your busy schedule. It takes a lot of physical effort to lose weight, but changing your mindset can help make it easier. The way you think affects the way you act, so check out these 5 new ways of thinking about weight loss, and succeed on your weight-loss journey.
1. You’re doing something kind for your body
Weight loss shouldn’t feel like torture. You aren’t punishing your body by depriving it of the things it loves, you’re taking care of it by nourishing it with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.
2. You’re making a long-term lifestyle change
Fad diets and quick weight loss plans might seem like the perfect solution, but they aren’t. Extreme diets aren’t sustainable – once you come off of them, you’ll gain the weight back. Instead, make smaller, healthier food and exercise choices that you can stick to for the rest of your life.
3. It’s not all about the number on the scale
Don’t fixate on the number on the scale. It’s okay if it goes up and down a little – everyone’s weight fluctuates within a few pounds. Focus on becoming healthier instead of skinnier. If you’re eating clean and exercising regularly, you’re doing everything you can for your body.
4. It’s a marathon, not a sprint
Weight loss takes time. Don’t set deadlines for yourself or try to speed up the process by starving yourself or working out for hours every day. The changes will only stick if they’re manageable and sustainable.
5. You can’t fail
You ate a chocolate bar today? That’s okay. You skipped the gym to sleep in? That’s okay too! You’re not failing yourself by treating yourself every now and then. As long as you’re making healthy choices most of the time, you’re succeeding.
