6 Eating Hacks To Help You Stay On Track

We all work so hard to get in shape and beach body ready for when we go on vacation, but we forget about taking care of our bodies once we are on vacation. Straying away from a healthy diet for even a few days can throw us off track and make it really hard to get back into the swing of a clean lifestyle. Here are a few eating hacks to make sure that you treat your body right even while on vacation.

1. Clean and Lean 

For all your meals, try to choose high protein and high fiber options. This way you won’t fill up on carbs, but will still eat enough food from which you can get local tastes. This is typically not too hard to find no matter where you visit.

2. Portion Control

It can be so easy to get carried away with a really good dish. You just want more and more! However, the bloated feeling after is definitely not worth it and can make you a little more weary of slipping into a bathing suit. Try to limit your portions to a fist size for each food group (i.e. veggies, carbs, protein, etc.). You can even try snacking more throughout the day and only having one large meal.

3. To Drink or Not To Drink?

When on vacation, we all just want to kick back, relax, and have a few drinks, but those drinks add up calories really fast. Make sure you set a limit yourself and do a little research on how many calories are in different drinks. A few easy go-to’s are vodka or tequila with some fruit juice for flavor.

4. Stock Up Your Hotel Room

Often times, vacation-goers spend most of their money in a new place on food. An easy way to save some money as well as to be a little more conscious of what you eat is to try and buy some of your own food. Although you may not be able to prepare anything in your hotel room, it can be useful to have some snacks for a busy day of sight-seeing and some breakfast foods so that you can have healthy food on your own accord.

5. Skip the Sugar (Or Try To)

Dessert is probably the most tempting meal, but the fact of the matter is that it has the most sugar and can often slow you down. When on vacation you need all the energy you can muster to stay out and about. Dessert is not a meal worth indulging in often, so try to limit yourself to only 1 or 2 days a week to satisfy your sweet tooth.

6. Drink A LOT of Water

If you are traveling during the summer, the chances you are going to a warm destination are really high and the chances you are going to be outside a lot are even higher. Make sure to pack your own water bottles so that you can refill them throughout the day. Drinking a lot of water keeps you energized, hydrated, prevents you from feeling too hungry, and keeps your skin supple.
