Wiped after your afternoon run? Follow the formula! Below you will learn how to build the perfect skinny smoothie, every single time!

A Few Simple Steps

First, choose your fruit. Do you like the vibrant tang of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries? Maybe you prefer a tropical infusion of banana and pineapple. It’s your call. Mix up your favorite fruits. Then, select a liquid. Do you prefer the smoothness of coconut milk? Maybe you need a dash of caffeine from iced coffee. Some of you like the refreshing addition of clear water. Remember that you’ll be adding a creamy texture later, so if you choose a lighter liquid, feel free to complement it with a creamier ingredient.

Now, think about which nutritional powerhouses you’ll need for the day. Choose your veggie and your energy boost while thinking of what you’ve been lacking in your diet lately, or what might help you to feel better as the day goes on. And, of course, that extra dash of sweetness and flavor make all the difference. Choose your natural sweetener and dash of healthy flavor to finish off your perfect smoothie!

    1. Hi Sarah,

My personal favorite is raspberry with OJ, a touch of beet juice, and honey. A family favorite is mango, pineapple, a touch of Greek yogurt and coconut milk, and honey if it needs to be sweeter! Feel free to get creative and let us know what you come up with!

    1. Thanks, Lindsey! The calories will vary greatly, depending on your chosen ingredients. Most of our smoothies come in somewhere between 200 and 350 calories, however.

    1. Hi Karen, I would probably avoid freezing the ingredients together. Adding frozen fruit would be ok, but frozen leafy greens (such as spinach or kale) would end up wilted and not taste great. If you frozen the liquid with other ingredients you would need to take the time to thaw everything before blending. You could definitely prepare everything two or three days ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator, just not the freezer!

  1. To Karen You can freeze the smoothies just leave the liquid out .The greens freeze very well. This is wonderful to make several for later. It doesn’t bother the taste.
Just add liquid when ready to blend.

    1. We’re glad you’re excited, Morguinn! It’s a healthy smoothie and can help with weight loss when it’s part of an overall healthy diet.

  2. Wow! The smoothie looks so delicious! Thanks for sharing your recipe. I pinned it on Pinterest. I can’t wait to try this yummy smoothie. Hope it will be beneficial for a weight loss programme. Thanks!

  3. It was delicious! I’m quite hungry in the morning so I did blueberries, spinach, milk, yogurt (nonfat plain), vanilla extract, flax seed, and I’m doing low sugar so I added some Splenda 2 packets (I didn’t have honey). I will make this again and there is a way to purée your spinach in cubes on Pinterest sorry can’t find link but basically you use a blender or food processor and put in ice tray to freeze, I think 1 cube is like 1/2 a cup. Thank you for a great smoothie!

  4. Does anyone know how much ice to add? I added about 10 ounces and my smoothie came out watery
