What does it take for you to get out of the house every morning? Concealer? Foundation? Probably mascara, and maybe even liner and shadow. Do you wear lipstick, lip gloss, or a layer of each? Do you think you could go without your ritual application of cosmetics, just for a day? On a recent episode of The Today Show, the anchors were challenged to a No Makeup Monday, during which they boldly sat in front of the studio’s cameras, embracing their faces without their usual coats of armor!

SkinnyMs. readers, we’d love to challenge you to a Makeup-Free Monday! Sure, a gorgeous red lip or a perfectly lined eye can be fun. But most days, we’re not applying makeup with any sense of joy. We cake concealer on our undereye circles, widen our eyes with pencils and brushes, and plump up our lips with liner and gloss. All too frequently, we see pictures of celebrities “caught” without makeup in magazines, ridiculed for any visible blemishes or fine lines. Women begin to feel as if they must mask any and all perceived imperfections in order to allow themselves in public! But if we each tried to go without makeup for just a day, we might start to feel a little more brave, a little more bold, and a little more forgiving of our own, beautiful, unique faces.

Our rules? Stick to whatever your basic morning routine is, from washing your face and applying a great moisturizer and sunscreen to brushing your teeth, flossing, and putting on a lip balm with SPF. But skip the makeup, just for the day!

We’re not telling you to throw away your cosmetics for good. But take us up on our Makeup-Free Monday Challenge, and you might start to feel more comfortable going without makeup on occasion, and noticing features you think are beautiful, naturally. SkinnyMs. is about staying healthy and feeling great, not hiding yourself away! How to make sure you look and feel your best when going bare-faced? The key to great skin, bright eyes, and soft lips is to pamper your body with healthy habits! Read on for our SkinnyMs. tips for a gorgeous makeup-free face!

The SkinnyMs. Makeup-Free Monday Challenge

1. Make SPF a part of your daily routine
Dermatologists agree that along with genetics, sun exposure is the most important factor in how well your skin ages. Too much exposure to ultra-violet rays causes free radical damage, which leads to age spots and other discolorations, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF rating of 30 or above everyday. Remember, even when it’s cloudy outside, some of the sun’s rays are still hitting your face.

These chemical-free, broad spectrum SPF sunscreens by Juice Beauty provide protection, nourishing moisture, and powerful antioxidants. All Juice Beauty sunscreens have been approved by EWG to be safe, effective, and authentically organic.

2. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration
Water hydrates all of the cells in your body, including your skin cells! Water helps to move nutrients into cells and moves toxins out, and promotes sweating, which clears our pores. This makes skin look radiant and healthy. Plus, hydrated skin stands up better to the drying and fragility that comes with age.

Always have a reusable water bottle with you. This BPA-free designer hydration bottle is only $12.99. You can infuse the water with flavor by adding cucumber slices and lemon slices, and refill the bottle with water all day. This one is a dual water mister and sports bottle – spritz yourself and hydrate for only $11.99.

3. Hands Off
Keeping your hands away from your face is important to skin health. So many of us have made a habit of fussing with our skin and poking and squeezing our blemishes. Doing so can cause bacteria to migrate across your face, allowing more blemishes to pop up, and can cause micro-tears in the skin tissue that may later lead to wrinkling.

Blemish Clearing serums from Juice Beauty clear while hydrating. With a unique blend of powerful hydroxy fruit acids, clarifying salicylic acid from willow bark, clearing CoQ10 and skin renewing Vitamin C.

4. Keep an Eye on Inflammation
Many of us feel that our eyes look tired, and we’re right! They’re tired of itching, allergies, and inflammation. Identify the cause of your eye irritation, whether it’s overuse of contact lenses, allergens in the home or atmosphere, or dryness in the air. Combat these irritants by giving your eyes a break from lenses, using filters to keep the air in your home clear, and humidifiers to allow moisture into the air. You can also try ground flaxseeds on your morning oatmeal, or flax oil, in order to fight eye inflammation.

Besides dry air or allergens, staring at a computer all day or paperwork can make eyes tired and sensitive. This $24 eye compress can be chilled in the fridge and placed over tired eyes for instant relief and relaxation. This can also help migraine sufferers.

For under your eyes, try using Juice Beauty’s Smoothing Eye Concentrate, a moisturizing and smoothing eye treatment with certified organic grape and carrot juices blended with essential fatty acids and Vitamins B5, C and P to hydrate for healthy, beautiful eyes. A Daily Essential for all skin types. is designed for all skin types and ideal for daily use to moisturize and soothe skin around the eyes.

Rasberries & Blueberries

5. Eat Your Berries
Blueberries, one of nature’s greatest superfoods, and its cousins the blackberry and strawberry, are packed with antioxidants that promote skin health. These tasty fruits contain phytochemicals along with antioxidants that reduce free radical damage and keep your skin looking healthier for longer.

You can also apply berry blends to your skin. Soothe your skin and reduce redness with this blend of certified organic, antioxidant-rich raspberry and aloe vera juices, licorice and bearberry botanicals, and nutrient-rich essential fatty acids that leaves you with a healthy skin tone. Juice Beauty’s Soothing Serum is designed for all skin types and is especially beneficial for sensitive, red, inflamed or aggravated skin.

6. Get Your Omega-3’s
Omega-3 fatty acids maintain healthy cell membranes, which allow your skin cells to hold onto water and nutrients, and allow your skin to look more plump, youthful, and radiant. Focus on eating salmon, flax seeds, and walnuts for these essential fatty acids.

If you prefer to get your Omega 3’s covered in antioxidant rich dark chocolate, then Mama Munch is a truly healthy indulgence. The ingredients are simple, wholesome and delicious: organic and Fair Trade 72% dark chocolate with no fillers or additives blended with crunchy candied walnuts and toasted flaxseeds, which are rich natural sources of Omega 3 fatty acids, protein, lignans, antioxidants and fiber.
