6. Almonds

Almond lovers, rejoice! Research shows that even when consuming the same amount of calories, those who eat a diet full of almonds lose more weight than those who eat a high-carb diet. By replacing high-carb snacks with a handful of almonds, you will be able to shed the pounds much more efficiently. More specifically, you will notice the pounds shedding in just two weeks of snacking on those almonds!

If you’re not a fan of snacking on almonds as they are, or if you’re looking for a way to switch up your daily snacks, give our No-Bake Almond Cranberry Energy Balls a try.

7. Avocado

Multiple studies have found that those who consume avocados regularly weigh less and have smaller waists than those who do not eat avocados. To get more specific, according to an article in the Internal Medicine Review, those who consume avocados are over 30% less likely to be overweight. Avocado eaters also weight over 7 pounds less than the average non-avocado eater.

Since avocados contain so many important vitamins and nutrients and also provide the feeling of satiation, avocado eaters have been found to not only weigh less, but to have higher levels of vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, healthy fats, and dietary fiber. Because avocados are so full of nutrients and provide you with that lovely feeling of satisfaction after eating them, incorporating them into your diet could help you to not have hunger cravings as often.

8. Grapefruit

According to an article written in the Metabolism Journal in 2012, a study proved that weight loss and grapefruit are directly related. The study took two different groups of people: one that ate half of a grapefruit with every meal every day for six weeks, and one that did not eat grapefruit. After the six weeks were up, the researchers were able to conclude that grapefruit aided in not only weight loss, but that it also helped lose weight specifically around the waist, and that it also reduced blood pressure.

I don’t know about you, but I know most people are always looking to get rid of that annoying fat around their mid-section. I’m now wishing that I had a grapefruit handy to make our delicious, weight loss inducing Broiled Salmon with Avocado Grapefruit Salsa. 9. Quinoa

Although quinoa is on the higher end when considering calories, it is another food that provides you with satiety while also providing you with tons of other health benefits. For instance, quinoa contains B-complex vitamins. These vitamins are known to boost your metabolism, which can also help you to shed those pounds. On top of that, quinoa is high in protein, which could help you to tone that body of yours and eliminate any fat.

Quinoa is a great source of many, many, many nutrients, but at the end of the day, it’s the fact that it provides satiety that makes quinoa a great food for weight loss. In a study in the Journal of Food Science and Technology, it was declared that rats who ate red quinoa didn’t eat as much as the rats who did not eat red quinoa.

10. Legumes

An article in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that legumes are body-fat reducing foods. The article also states that over a six week period, people who consumed about one serving of legumes a day lost weight, whereas those who did not consume this suggested serving of foods like chickpeas and beans, did not lose weight.

Legumes are a great way to lose weight while also switching up the proteins in your meals! Nobody likes to eat the same protein-rich foods for every meal–I know I don’t. So, by interchanging foods like kidney beans, chickpeas, black beans, and lentils as the protein portion of your meals, you’ll never get bored!
