Your obliques are the muscles that run along the side of your torso, giving it the trademark hourglass shape. They also play an important role in helping you with balance and stability. The other muscles that help you obtain a slim waist are the transverse abdominals. These muscles act as your body’s corset, pulling everything in and holding it tight.

This 20-minute ab workout will target your obliques and transverse abdominals to give you a slimmer waistline and stronger core.

20-Minute Oblique Workout for A Slimmer Waist

What You’ll Need: A light to medium weight (either a medicine ball or a dumbbell from 5-10 lb.), gym mat, and timer. Gymboss is a free-to-download timer app.

What to Do: Perform each exercise for 40 seconds, then rest for 20. Repeat a total of 4 times.
