5 Hacks to Simplify Your Life

Life gets a lot easier when you take advantage of these hacks!

Looking for your keys, having a pile of “not quite dirty” clothes, and struggling to have a place to chop your vegetables for dinner can add up to a day full of frustration. Take 10-15 minutes to remedy these issues for a lifetime of smooth sailing. Here are 5 quick fixes for daily roadblocks:

1. Create an Entry Station

No matter what it looks like: a Command strip hook on the wall, a fancy armoire, or something in between, having an entry station by your front door can be a lifesaver. Imagine an existence of never searching for your phone! You can even up the ante by adding your wallet, sunglasses, purse, an umbrella, or a rain coat. Anything that you find yourself dashing back into your house for when the clock is ticking is fair game. Putting them back is the key.

2. Have a “Gently Worn” Hook (or two)

For those items that you just can’t bring yourself to hang up as clean, having an extra hook or two near your dressing area will keep them from cluttering up the floor. You might even squeeze them back into rotation before laundry day!

3. Fold Your Clothes Vertically

According to Marie Kondo in “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” this method is truly magical. Vertically folded clothes stay unwrinkled and orderly, are easier to see, and take up less space! Try it once and you’ll never have to look for that favorite t-shirt again.

4. Keep Your Counters Clear

Kitchen counters are for food preparation, not storage. Store everything in cabinets and hang the rest! Your life will be so much simpler if you give the counters room to fulfill their intended purpose and watch dinner time – and clean up – become a breeze!

5. Cut the Cutlery Drawer

If you find yourself short on space, free up a drawer by improvising with a utensil drawer. A caddy hung on the wall works just as well, and you don’t have to worry about mismatched pieces ruining the effect.

    1. Hi, Ann. You can sign up for our newsletter on the home page of our site. The newsletter shares more than just slow cooker recipes though.

  1. I’m with Dianne, vertically folded clothing left me totally confused. I’d definitely like to understand that suggestion.

    1. Lesley, I just included a video explaining. You’ll smile when you see how easy it is to folder vertically. 🙂
