gluten free foods: macadamia date butter

If you’re looking to cut out processed sugar but are still craving sweets like cake, try making this Macadamia Date Butter. Our three-ingredient creamy date spread satisfies cravings, takes the edge off a gnarly sweet tooth, and keeps hunger at bay. We combined the buttery creaminess of macadamias with the rich, caramel flavor of dates. Then we threw them in the food processor and blended them with our favorite unsweetened almond milk to create the perfect plant-based, dairy-free treat!

Creamy Date Spread Keeps You Happy

Spread this light and creamy butter on toast, fruit, or crackers!

Undoubtedly, we all have ridiculous sugar cravings that can quickly take us off the track to wellness. A craving for creamy, fatty ice cream will get us into trouble, but this macadamia date butter won’t! In fact, don’t be surprised if a quick jolt of happiness occurs from this little snack.

Macadamias are full of good fat while also being rich in minerals, vitamins, and fiber. Potential benefits of macadamia nuts include weight loss, improved gut health, and protection against diabetes and disease.

Macadamias + Dates =Super Snack

Our homemade macadamia date butter is slightly sweet but totally satisfying!

Besides the fact that dried dates taste like a natural candy bar, blending them with macadamia nuts is absolutely dreamy. Before we go on, let’s get one thing straight: Dates are seriously high in sugar. That said, they’re not a processed sugar, and it’s important to enjoy an occasional sweet treat when you drastically reduce your sugar intake.

Now that we got that out of the way, it’s time to rejoice in this creamy date spread that also provides a good source of magnesium, calcium, iron, and potassium. Because it’s so fiber rich, a little bit will make you feel fuller for longer, too.

Making this delicious spread is easy, and we love having three-ingredient recipes like this in our back pocket. When you only need a few ingredients to pull off something this tasty, it’s easy to get attached! First, pulverize the macadamia nuts and dates together until it’s well blended. Next, add the almond milk and continue to puree until it resembles the consistency of hummus.

How to Serve This Dreamy Macadamia Date Butter

This recipe is a great alternative to cream cheese!

Honestly, this butter tastes so good, you’ll want to eat it by the spoonful. If that’s the case, then limit your spoons to about three because it’s seriously filling. Of course, you can use this creamy date spread as a sweet cream cheese substitute or even use it as a cream cheese in a cake. We like spreading it on bread, and it’s especially good on our Clean Eating Zucchini bread.

Accompanying a cheese board, this butter would provide a sweet take-away to go with all the other savory tastes. You can also add a dollop a bowl of fruit or morning oatmeal, or serve it on crackers or flatbread.

If you’re like us and you want to take this up another notch, try adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder or dehydrated fruit powder to the mix. Some fruit flavors naturally have fewer sugars than others, and we’ve had great success with a teaspoon of raspberry powder. Cocoa doesn’t have any sugar, so adding it won’t cause you any damage, just great flavor!
