Knowing the difference can help you shed pounds while boosting your health!

3. Hydrate
If you still can’t discern the difference between hunger and cravings, take the water test. Your body often confuses thirst for hunger. Dehydration and hunger symptoms can be virtually interchangeable. Drink a full glass of water when you feel the urge to eat, and wait 5 minutes. If the hunger subsides, you were probably just experiencing a craving, and good ol’ H20 works wonders when it comes to reducing cravings. If symptoms continue to linger and the thought of food continues to torture you, then your system probably needs fuel.

4. Nibble Nutritiously
When you are experiencing true hunger, think first before you inhale the nearest option that catches your eye. Sure, that freshly-baked pretzel might give off an irresistibly magical aroma. However, reaching for foods with little/no nutrients will only give you a quick fix, and your brain will quickly bounce back to feeling hungry, leading you to consume more calories later on. Reach for something fibrous or protein-packed. These nutrients will curb cravings and keep you feeling full. Ditch the processed options chock-full of refined sugars and carbs and go for clean foods with real ingredients and complex carbs.
