Simple 5-Minute Healthy Snack Recipes

Keep these snack ideas in your rotation to whip up before your stomach starts to rumble.

I still remember the joy of coming home from school and eating a delicious after-school snack with my brothers and sisters. Back then, it seemed like I could eat anything and everything! There was nothing to worry about.

Now, I definitely couldn’t eat the same way. But I still love to enjoy a snack, especially during that time when lunch is long gone but dinner is still so far away. My stomach starts to grumble around 3:00 pm, and if I’m not careful, I’ll be shoveling unhealthy chips or cookies down my throat. Yikes!

However, not all snacking is bad. Snacking can add to the levels of nutrients you’re getting, speed up muscle recovery, and provide you with energy to help you get through your day! It makes sense to feed your body throughout the day instead of just a few times.

Plus, eating healthy snacks can also help you refrain from eating unhealthy foods like junk foods and sweets. If you have a healthy snack handy, you’re going to find satisfaction in that healthy snack instead of having to jump on the first piece of food you see (which more often than not, is an unhealthy one).

On top of that, healthy snacking will also prevent you from overeating during meals. If you snack throughout the day, you’re far less likely to be starving come dinner time.

Now, you might be wondering what some examples of these healthy snacks would be. Continue reading to discover not only healthy snack ideas, but 5 five-minute healthy snack ideas you can keep in rotation and whip up before your stomach starts to rumble.

Simple 5-Minute Healthy Snack Recipes

1. 2-Ingredient Sour Cream Dip

As a lover of all Mexican flavors, this is number one for me. This snack recipe only calls for two ingredients and only asks you to do one thing with them: mix them together. Sign me up! Then, all you have to do is grab a bag of healthy, non-GMO chips or veggies to dip in it. It doesn’t get much easier or quicker than that!

2. Snack Pretzel Stack

A humble reminder that almost anything can be a delicious snack recipe. You can make this snack with ingredients that you probably have lying around your house: a banana, whole wheat pretzel twists, sunbutter (or any nut butter for those nut butter lovers out there), and mini dark chocolate chips. It’s the perfect five-minute healthy snack option for adults and kids alike. It’s loaded with protein and other filling nutrients, and it really hits the spot if you’ve got a sweet tooth.

3. Skinny Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip

I am all about fruit-on-toast recipes, and this one really hits home. Figs are high in fiber and contain multiple vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, and vitamin K. Plus, they taste delicious–especially on top of a couple slices of toasted whole-grain oatmeal bread that are lathered in a low-fat ricotta cheese spread. Find out just how delicious that is by trying this recipe.

4. Meaty Veggie Roll-ups

Protein, fiber, and all kinds of vitamins. Who thought snacks could be this healthy? This is the perfect dip for when your sweet tooth strikes during snack-time. It’s, again, something even kids would love! This dip goes perfectly with any fruit and contains just 40 calories per every 2 tablespoons.

5. Sweet Ricotta and Fig Toast

These roll-ups aren’t only perfect for the paleo-dieter, they’re perfect for anyone! If you’re not following a paleo diet, but are craving something savory and protein-packed, this snack idea is for you. It’s super easy to switch it up, too. Just use different veggies or deli meats at your own convenience! This recipe yields 12 roll-ups and, therefore, provides snacks for the whole family!
