Switch up your routine with fun, new tools!
You know the saying, “out with the old, in with the new”? Well, in fitness that doesn’t apply. We love older, tried-and-true methods, but we learn from them and create new techniques that we embrace! New routines, new movements, and new equipment all bring new challenges to your body. New challenges will push you mentally and physically, having you looking and feeling fantastic.
1. TRX Suspension Trainer
We all know that gymnasts are some of the most fit people in the world. The TRX Suspension Trainer is like having portable gymnast rings available. Think incline pushups, single leg squats, chest flys, hamstring curls ,and back rows. These are all bodyweight exercises which bring a unique challenge but defining results. Imagine doing weighted jack-knifes or weighted burpees with the weight shifting every which way due to the water flowing freely inside the ball. It is not an easy task. Building up the strength to stabilize the weight is going to take a lot of core control. You can add water as you need to, which also makes it easy to travel with. If you already use a Kettlebell, you can simply incorporate the same moves and you’ll be one step closer to a stronger body.

5. Gymboss Interval Timer and Stopwatch
One of the best timers you can find, hands down! The Gymboss is small, clips on securely wherever you need it to, and vibrates strongly enough to let you know when it’s TIME. One of our favorite workout styles at Skinny Ms. is Tabata. Now, although numbers may differ, the original premise for a Tabata workout is a 4-minute workout, including 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest. The GymBoss is perfect for Tabata workouts. You clip it to your waist, start your first round, it vibrates to let you know when to rest, and vibrates again to let you know when your rest is over. Most importantly, you can set the number of rounds you want to complete. Eight is the standard but you can always push yourself to do more rounds, more seconds of work, and less seconds of rest. This timer has easy button control and instructions on the clip so that you never forget how to stay in control of your workout.

6. Define Bottle
Not exactly a workout tool, but something that is extremely useful while working out: staying hydrated! Water is always refreshing, but having some fruit to toss in can help to add some extra zest to your quench. Think cucumbers, lemons, and ginger. Think pineapples and mango. Think blueberries, strawberries, and kiwi. So many different options. All delicious and refreshing. Bottles with straws aren’t appealing and drinking from a bottle and having the fruit fall down and block the water flow just ruins the experience.
