Olive oil is one of this recipe’s nutritious ingredients…and for good reason! With olive oil, comes many health benefits such as:
- Lowers blood cholesterol
- Aids in weight loss
- Boosts metabolism
- Aids in digestion
- Prevents inflammation
- Helps prevent certain types of cancer
Along with these incredible benefits, you will also get the wonderful benefits of lemon juice when enjoying our Slow Cooker Italian Chicken and Sweet Potatoes. It’s yet another one of the nutritious ingredients used. Lemon juice is great for cleansing and detoxifying the body. This is due to the citric acid present in lemon juice. I don’t know about you, but I’m all for cleansing and detoxifying!
I’m also all for the 24 grams of protein this recipe provides thanks to the chicken! I’m always looking for high-protein dinners that are great for the whole family. I find that when I enjoy meals that are higher in protein for dinner, I’m less likely to be hungry. I’m also less likely to be grabbing for something later in the night.
It’s for all of these reasons that I love making this meal and freezing it to enjoy at a later date. There is an abundance of nutritious ingredients, tons of health benefits that come from such nutritious ingredients, and it’s high in protein. This isn’t one of those dishes that I put away because of its lack of nutrition or lack of good taste–hoping that I just won’t end up eating it.
I this put this meal away and can’t wait until I can eat it! It’s a dish that is perfect for any busy night because it’s one that can be enjoyed without feeling even the tiniest bit of guilt.
A small restaurant in the mall near my hometown always has bourbon chicken on the menu and I always used to cave into ordering it. I’m saying “used to” because now that I’ve fallen in love with the succulent flavors of this Slow Cooker Bourbon Chicken recipe, I don’t feel the need to order the high-calorie, high-sugar version at restaurants.
This recipe of ours still sends my taste buds into party mode despite the fact that it lacks all of the unhealthy ingredients in the restaurant versions. This recipe doesn’t call for any added sugar and is less than 400 calories per serving!
Ingredients like sugar-free apple juice, ginger, honey, and my favorite: apple cider vinegar are used to start that party for my taste buds. Although all of these ingredients are nutritious and much healthier than any of the ingredients restaurants use to make the dish, apple cider vinegar is my favorite for its numerous health benefits.
Apple cider vinegar is known to aid in digestion, lower cholesterol, aid in weight loss, clear acne, control blood sugar, and boost energy! As someone who absolutely loves freezing this meal so that I don’t have to use so much energy to prepare dinner after a long day, I can use all of the energy I can get!
This recipe makes my tummy, heart, and mind happy knowing that I can enjoy a delicious meal while also nourishing both my own body and the bodies of all of my family members. It would be silly to say no to such a wonderful meal!
If you love Taco Tuesday as much as I do but also have as much to do as I do, you’ll love this recipe and the fact that it can be enjoyed after freezing. It only takes fifteen minutes to prepare, and then the slow cooker works its magic.
After it does, all you have to do is throw it in the freezer and wait for the next Taco Tuesday to come around so you can wow your friends and family with this easy yet delicious addition to the table.
I love putting it in the freezer, reheating it, and then throwing some shredded cheese on top. My boyfriend does the same, but he likes to take it a step further by pairing it with some whole grain tortilla chips. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this soup at your next fiesta!
All soups are great to enjoy during the colder months of fall and winter but, in my book, nothing beats the good old chicken noodle soup classic. Nothing says “feel better” like a nice, big bowl of chicken noodle soup!
Our chicken noodle soup recipe leaves other recipes in the dust because in just one serving, ours contains 32 grams of protein, only 2 grams of sugar, and is less than 400 calories. Plus, it allows you to distress while you’re feeling under the weather since broth based soups actually freeze the best.
So, when you do start to feel that cold taking over, just pull this recipe up, let the slow cooker work its magic, eat a serving, and then throw the rest in the freezer for the days to come.
It never disappoints me and since the recipe yields eight servings, there’s enough soup for everyone in the house. My family never seems to get mad at me for getting them sick when I have already-made soup to help them feel better!
To be honest, they never get mad at me when I make any of these best slow cooker chicken recipes! Their reaction is quite the opposite. They even do the dishes to show how much they appreciate me slaving in the kitchen! Little do they know, I didn’t spend any time in the kitchen at all! I just heated up what the slow cooker made for me a few days prior. Talk about a relaxing night!
