Who knew a recipe so simple could be so sophisticated and delicious!

Begin this recipe by heating a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Meanwhile, spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread, then flip it and drizzle the other side with balsamic vinegar. You can use as little or as much as you’d like. Layer 2 slices of bread (balsamic side up) with shredded cheese, then apple slices, then a bit more cheese to make sure each side will be cheesy. Then, top with the remaining slices to create sandwiches.

Note: we used shredded cheese in this recipe because it melts faster and more evenly than full slices. Shredded cheese will add more gooey-ness to your sandwich, and when it comes to grilled cheese, the gooey-er, the better!

Place the sandwiches on the skillet (butter side out) and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the bread has turned golden and crispy. Flip and cook for another 3 or 4 minutes, making sure the cheese has melted. Cut into the ooey-gooey sandwich and bask in the creamy deliciousness!
