Kid-Friendly Halloween Sandwich
Looking for more ways to bring some Halloween fun into October? Here’s a healthy and filling, mini spider sandwich that will be both frightening and delicious! Everyone can enjoy these spooky PB&J’s- even your little one! You can even make a craft out of this recipe for kids to have both fun and a snack.
Pro tip: if your child has a nut allergy or their school does not allow nuts, try replacing the peanut butter in this recipe with sun butter, extra jelly or jam, or even cream cheese! You can also switch up the filling with some marshallow fluff or Nutella spread for a sweeter option.
Fun and Healthy Choice
Halloween is known for its sweet and sugary candies, but it’s important to make sure to get some healthy snacks in as well. These sandwiches provide protein, fiber, and antioxidants while keeping it fun for kids to enjoy! Both the protein in the peanut butter and fiber from the whole grains are great options that help balance out all of the sugary Halloween sweets. Try this fun dish as a spooky lunch or as part of a kid-friendly Halloween platter.
Assemble these Spooky Mini Spider Sandwiches
It’s so easy to make these spider sandwiches. You can even have your little one join in on the fun and make their own!
First, spread the peanut butter over one slice of whole wheat bread, then top with the jam of your choice. Lay the other piece of bread on top. Next, use a circle-shaped cookie cutter to cut the sandwich into a circle. If you use a small enough circle you can make 2-4 rounds with each sandwich. Note: If you’re only doing one large circle per sandwich, you can center the spread so you don’t waste any when you cut out the sandwich round!
Then, stick 4 pretzel sticks (or legs) into each side. After that, place your mini M&M eyes and candy corn fangs on with an extra dab of peanut butter (or whatever filling you chose!)
