As summer arrives with it’s oppressive temperatures, beat the heat by staying well hydrated. Water is the better beverage choice for staying hydrated, but plain water can get boring. Try this fun and healthy drink to stay well hydrated at the pool, in the backyard or wherever the summer takes you.

Strawberry-Basil Water

  • 1 pint strawberries, sliced
  • 10 fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 2 quarts water


  1. Combine strawberries, basil and lemon in a large pitcher. Add 2 quarts water. Refrigerate at least 3 hours or up to 2 days.
  2. Infused waters are an easy way to add flavor and interest without a lot of extra calories. Try different fruit and herb combinations, like cucumber-mint or lemon-lime.
