A Clean-Eating Crust Your Body Will Love
Most pizza crusts consist of carbs and few, if any, nutrients. Our light and flavorful crust ditches the white flour entirely, shining the spotlight on chickpeas instead. This powerful superfood makes an incredible flour that you can use as a substitute for conventional flour. Unlike normal flour (which is made from grains), chickpea flour is made from legumes. This gives chickpea flour a nutrient-dense profile that blows regular flour out of the water.
Letโs Talk About Chickpea Flour!
Chickpea flour has more vitamins, minerals, potassium, and folate than flour. At the same time, it has fewer calories, carbohydrates, and packs in more protein. What more could you ask for? As a bonus, this fantastic flour can also help with your weight loss efforts. Its high fiber and protein content will keep you feeling full and help ward off cravings.
Besides starring in this chickpea flour crust recipe, this flour has incredible versatility. If youโre considering making this flour a pantry staple in your kitchen, we donโt blame you! Swap it in for white or wheat flour whenever you get the chance.
How To Make Chickpea Flour Crust
Throwing this chickpea crust recipe together is a breeze. First, combine the chickpea flour with kosher salt and rosemary. Next, create a crater in the center of the flour mixture and add two teaspoons of olive oil. Add half of the water and continue to mix. Gradually add the remaining water until your mixture turns doughy. Knead the dough before forming it into a ball. Coat the dough ball with the remaining olive oil, cover it with a towel, and allow it to rest. After 15 minutes have passed, you can start making your pizza!
What About Toppings?
When it comes to transforming your chickpea flour crust into pizza, the options are endless! Keep it elegantly simple, or liven it up with a whole bunch of flavors and textures. For example, you can serve with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil for a classic presentation. If you’re feeling experimental, try playing around with additional Greek-inspired flavors by adding feta, kalamata olives, and a drizzle of olive oil. These ingredients complement the chickpea flour dough beautifully!
