Give in to your chocolate cravings!
When that pesky chocolate craving strikes (and we know that it will), these delectable Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies will be there to save the day. They’re incredibly simple to make and can be ready to enjoy in just 20 minutes! Plus, you may even have all of the ingredients that you’d need to make them in your pantry at this very moment.
Healthy Ingredient Swaps for Gluten-Free Baking
Recently, baking with avocado has become more and more popular. Aside from the fact that it’s a healthy alternative to ingredients like butter, shortening, or oil, it also adds a wonderful, smooth texture to the cookies.
This recipe also calls for honey instead of sugar. Honey is an all-natural option that does not raise blood sugar levels as quickly as sugar does. It is also sweeter than sugar, so you can typically use less of it, allowing you to add fewer calories, as well.
These Gluten-Free Double Chocolate Chip Cookies actually don’t require any flour at all, even gluten-free flour. The avocado, cocoa powder, honey, and almond butter will give them a wonderful texture on their own!
20 Minutes to Chocolaty Goodness
You’ll want to start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and placing some parchment paper on a baking sheet.
Then, in a food processor, combine the avocado and honey and blend them together until you have a smooth consistency. Once smooth, add the remaining ingredients, minus the chocolate chips. You’ll want to pulse the food processor until all of your ingredients are evenly combined. Finish by stirring in the chocolate chips by hand. This will keep them from getting all chopped up!
Spoon the batter out onto the prepared baking sheet, and you’ll end up with about eight cookies. Once your oven is preheated, bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes. We know they’re going to smell delicious, but we recommend letting them cool for a few minutes before enjoying.

How’s this “skinny” at 500 calories each? I must be reading the nutritional analysis incorrectly.
Hi Suzie, not sure what happened with the calories! I’ve double checked and the calories should be about 250 per cookie.
The avocado is an ultra healthy fat and makes the calories go up. The cookies are meant as a treat and well worth it.
These look delicious. However, are there any goodies out there that can be prepared for people with severe tree nut and peanut allergies as well as gluten sensitivity?
Hi Sarah, this recipe is already gluten free! We have several gluten free recipes on the site for just about anything and everything! In this recipe, you can substitute sunbutter or Wow Butter in place of the almond butter. These are both great alternatives to any “nut butter” (and also make a great sandwich)! If you need any assistance finding a nut substitute for any recipe, please feel free to comment and we will do our best to get back to you with a sub!
I don’t have a food processor. Is it possible to make this recipe without one?
Deb. Yes, you can use a mixer or even mix by hand.
