Whip up these tasty wontons in your own kitchen!

Vegetable wontons are a popular Asian appetizer that you may think you can only get at your local Chinese restaurant. Fortunately, we’ve made it simple for you to prepare this healthy version at home. This easy-to-prepare recipe turns out flavorful wontons that are baked until slightly crisp. Egg roll wrappers are easy to find in the Asian aisle of your local supermarket, and you can use dumpling wrappers as well.
Vegetable Wontons with Honey Sesame Sauce
Ingredients
Wontons
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 green onions sliced
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger grated
- 1 cup mushrooms sliced
- 1/2 cup cabbage shredded
- 1/4 cup carrots shredded
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce lite or tamari
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 6 egg roll wrappers cut into quarters
- 1 egg beaten
Honey Sesame Sauce
- 1/4 cup soy sauce lite or tamari
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Heat the sesame oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add the green onions, garlic, and ginger and cook for 1 minute. Add the mushrooms and cook until soft and add the cabbage, carrots, and crushed red pepper. Cook until all veggies are soft and add the soy sauce and vinegar. Turn off heat.
- Lay the egg roll wrappers on a work surface and spoon about a tablespoon of the vegetable filling in each wrapper. Brush the edges with the egg and fold in half, pressing to seal. Lay on a parchment-lined sheet pan. Brush with egg and bake for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned and crisp to the touch.
- While the wontons are baking, make the honey sesame sauce by combining the ingredients in a jar with a lid. Shake until well combined.
- Serve the wontons with the sauce, and extra green onions if desired.
