Yoga can help you in many aspects of your life. It’s a great form of exercise that increases your flexibility, strengthens your muscles, and even boosts the immune system. Perhaps one of our favorite benefits of yoga is that it can help you get a better night’s sleep, too! These yoga poses for better sleep will help you calm down and relax for the best sleep possible!
No Distractions: Just You and This Yoga Routine
This yoga plan should be performed at night before bedtime. It’s not challenging like some yoga routines. Instead, it’s designed to be relaxing, helping you work out the stress tension you might have accumulated in your body throughout the day. It’s meant for loosening muscles and easing your mind, so you’ll feel calm and relaxed as you head off to bed.
To get the most out of these poses, it’s important that you turn off all forms of background noise and put away anything that may distract you. Performing this routine in a cool, dark room is preferred. Focus on taking slow, deep breaths as you lean into each stretch. Breathe in through your nose and out through your nose. For each exhale, try to lean just a little bit further into the stretch to deepen it (but make sure you’re still comfortable). Placing all of your focus into this routine will allow the worries of the day to fade away, setting you up for a night of better and deeper sleep.
Benefits of a Good Night’s Sleep
While it may seem like a challenge to those of us with incredibly busy lives, the Mayo Clinic recommends that adults get between seven and nine hours of sleep per night. Going to bed earlier may be difficult at first. However, if you can manage it, the benefits will be numerous! Getting a sufficient amount of sleep on a regular basis can reduce stress, improve mood, boost your immune system, help you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, and even enhance your memory. By performing these yoga poses and trying to get to bed a little bit earlier, you can enhance pretty much every aspect of your life! It’s certainly worth a try, right?
