Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground turkey, optional ground beef
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup + 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Kosher or sea salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 6 Whole Wheat Buns

Directions

Cook ground turkey, onion and garlic in a large skillet, breaking up meat with a fork up as it cooks.

Drain ground turkey thoroughly and add remaining ingredients, mix well. Bring to a boil and reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.

Serve on toasted 100% whole wheat buns. Enjoy pizza burgers with our Sweet Potato Fries.

    Why not just cook everything over low heat in a skillet? I don't see the point in using a slow-cooker for this. I must be missing something!
