Has anyone made these using a sugar free substitute for the maple syrup? Being diabetic, I’m really looking for a great brownie recipe that doesn’t have a lot of impact on blood glucose levels. Would also substitute almond flour….

Do the dark chocolate chips melt? Or are they “intact”? Curious because I want to try these brownies but I don’t like crunching on chocolate chips in my brownies.
Hi Angela, the chocolate chips will not melt completely.
Could use raw honey instead of syrup?
Yes, you can substitute raw honey.
what can I use in place of coconut oil? I want to make tomorrow and don’t have any on hand.
Hi Angela! A melted vegan butter, melted regular butter, or a light tasting olive oil can be used. Be cautious when using olive oil, because the flavors may alter the taste of the brownies.
Can I just say how excited I am about these brownies? I have tried multiple different brownies that were clean and they were all so dark and thick! These have the wonderful brownie texture and taste so good!!! Thank you!!!
We’re so glad to hear you love the recipe, Megan!
Maple syrup? What can be substituted? I do not use Stevia, agave and similar products. I use regular sugar as I use it sparingly. Thank you.
Pat, Try coconut sugar instead.
I’ve made this recipe several times. My family and I love it. The healthy substitutions make it guilt-free. Thank you!!
Awesome Natalee! We’re happy to hear that it’s a family favorite! Enjoy 🙂
These are the most amazing brownies! I used almond flour and added a little extra maple syrup for some extra sweetness and they were to die for!!!! I will definitely be making these again.
We’re glad to hear you loved the recipe, Alissa!
I made these last night and they were the best homemade brownies I’ve ever made!
I’d like to make them for my friends, but one is allergic to avocado. Is there anything I can sub for the avocado? Thanks 😊
Melanie, Try the equivalent amount of baked sweet potato. I love sweet potato in brownies and you can’t taste it. YUM! Keep us posted.
Can you use avocado oil in place of the coconut oil?
Diana, Sure can.
I used Avocado Oil instead of coconut oil. I will let you know how they turned out!
I used gluten free all purpose flour
Gluten free all purpose flour is a great option!
This is my ONLY go to brownie recipe! It’s delicious & healthy, what more could you want. I’ve tweaked it a little bit by adding half a finely grated carrot and beetroot and only using 1/2 cup maple syrup and cacao powder. My 3 yr old son loves it and doesn’t know how good it is for him 👏 thank you!
Cassie, Great! Thank you for the feedback. 🙂
Can these be made in muffin tins? Any ideas on how to adjust the cooking time?
Hannah, Yes they can be made in a muffin tin. The temp remains the same. The cooking time should be approximately the same 20-25 minutes. Be sure to check the muffins after 20 minutes.
These are super moist and delicious.
