52 Quick Weight Loss Foods

Some foods may be the enemy, but these foods are the heros!

15. Broccoli

Broccoli is low in calories, high in fiber, and high in water, making it a food that can fill you up in a lower amount of calories that the alternative. Nutrients in broccoli, such as calcium and vitamin C, also aid in weight loss.

To get into eating this weight loss promoter, try our 3-Ingredient Crispy Garlic Broccoli.

16. Olive Oil

I love substituting olive oil for salad dressings. Salad dressings are much higher in calories and fat than olive oil. That, on top of olive oil being able to prevent some cancers and inflammation while also aiding in weight loss, is why olive oil is a great ingredient to have in the kitchen.

You don’t have to only use it when preparing Mediterranean foods! We use olive oil in many of our recipes. A few examples include: One-Pan Roasted Chicken and Veggies Dinner, Orange Glazed Herb Turkey, and Roasted Green Beans and Mushrooms.

17. Spinach

I find getting enough nutrients while losing weight very important. Eating foods that are high in nutrients but low in calories, like spinach, help to ensure that your nutrient intake and weight loss journey are both satisfied. Another positive aspect of eating spinach is that it’s super filling despite the fact that it’s so low in calories.

Spinach can be eaten multiple ways and whichever way you prefer, we have a recipe for you:

18. Mushrooms

I personally love mushrooms because their texture and thickness make them a great meat replacement. This benefits weight loss journeys because too much meat can really hinder weight loss. The reason for this is the amount of calories and sometimes fat in certain meats. Unlike meat, mushrooms are low in calories, fat, and sodium!

Push forward with your weight loss journey by adding mushrooms into your diet. One of my favorite mushroom recipes is our Arugula, Mushroom, and Tomato Poached Egg Toast.

19. Berries

Berries are one of my favorite foods! And yes, when I say “berries”, I really do mean all berries!

They’re a great sweat treat and they also help promote weight loss. Here’s how:

  • They’re high in antioxidants (which are connected to weight loss)
  • They are metabolism boosters
  • They fight belly fat
  • They’re high in fiber

Since I love the naturally sugary fruits so much, it’s hard for me to pick just one or two berry recipes to share with you. So, here are five: Blueberry French Toast Casserole, Strawberry Cream Cheese Stuffed Crepes, Melon Berry Salad with Feta, Strawberry Rhubarb Buckwheat Bars, Blueberry Oat Pancakes.

Try these recipes so you can satisfy your sweet tooth without harming your weight loss journey!

20. Dark Chocolate

Is this not the greatest news ever?! We can have our chocolate and eat it too?!

Dark chocolate is great for appetite control, which helps weight loss in the long run! So, go grab that chocolate and make our Almond Butter Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies or our No-Bake Almond Joy Bars, or…both!

But, just like any other food, you must make sure you don’t overeat dark chocolate. Even overeating weight loss foods can prevent us from losing weight!

21. Celery

Celery has a high water content, has fiber, is insanely low in calories, and still fills you up. These qualities make celery a weight loss food and a great ingredient in our Slow Cooker White Bean Stew.

  1. Who said weight loss has to taste bad? So much beautiful food – I’ll probably end up marrying oats one day…

  2. Is there a clean list somewhere of just the foods without the comments amount each food? I appreciate these suggestions and would love to print a list.
