52 Quick Weight Loss Foods

Some foods may be the enemy, but these foods are the heros!

36. Oranges

Speaking of vitamin C…oranges are full of it!

I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but have you heard of all of the other weight loss qualities that oranges can bring to the table? Let me list a few for you:

  • They’re low in calories, but high in nutrients (making them a great weight loss snack and way to lower your calorie intake)
  • They’re naturally sweet (making them a great food to satisfy your sweet tooth without breaking your diet)
  • They’re full of fiber (which we know is great for weight loss)

Now that you know how smart it is to include oranges in your weight loss diet, I advise you to try our Almond Orange Frisee Salad!

37. Beans

Jam packed with fiber and protein, beans are one of my go-to weight loss ingredients! For me, the weight loss benefits of beans just give me more of a reason to enjoy one of my favorite meals: Slow Cooker Vegetable Chili.

38. Tuna

Tuna is also a food that’s loaded with protein! It’s also low in calories. Add these two health benefits together and you’ve got yourself a food that fills you up in a little amount of calories, making it a food that deserves a spot in this list.

A few tips and tricks to optimize your weight loss tuna recipes:

  • Don’t turn the weight loss food into a weight gain food by serving it and mixing it with high calorie, high fat foods
  • Choose low-mercury tuna
  • Like all foods, don’t over eat it (I know, I know. It tastes so good that it’s hard to stop eating it)

My favorite way to eat tuna that adheres to all of the above tips and tricks is by enjoying our Tuna Salad Stuffed Avocado.

39. Eggs

All of my fellow omelet and egg sandwich lovers, rejoice! In a study conducted in 2008, researchers found eggs to aid in weight loss. The study proved that eating eggs for breakfast over a bagel that yields the same amount of calories aids in weight loss. This is because eggs are much higher in protein, which means that eating them will keep you full and away from more food for much longer.

Although I love me a good omelet in the morning, I’ve been raving over egg sandwich recipes lately. Our Tomato, Ham, and Poached Egg English Muffin is worth the rave!

40. Tomatoes

Thinking about that breakfast sandwich I mentioned above, made me think about my love for tomatoes. So, I figured I should fill you in on why you should love tomatoes too!

First of all, I think they taste delicious–always adding that juiciness to meals. Second of all, they contain a lot of water which helps to make you feel full and, therefore, also helps to boost your weight loss.

That breakfast sandwich isn’t the only way I eat tomatoes. I also love them in our Cucumber, Tomato, and Avocado Salad, our Pizza Stuffed Tomatoes, and really any recipe that calls for tomatoes! They’re just too good!

41. Chicken

It’s common knowledge that eating chicken while trying to lose weight is a good idea because of chicken’s high protein content and low calorie content. The only issue is that people often misinterpret this message and cook chicken in ways that do not promote weight loss. For example, eating fried chicken is not ideal because it contains more calories and more unhealthy fats.

My tip to you is to enjoy meals where chicken is used optimally: either steamed, grilled, or roasted. Our Orange Glazed Chicken and Sweet Potato Kebabs recipe is just one way I enjoy eating chicken the right way.

42. Hummus

Since the main ingredient in hummus is chickpeas, and the other ingredients in hummus are olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and tahini, it’s safe to say that opting for a serving of hummus and veggies as a snack over a bag of chips will help you lose weight.

I love whipping up our Avocado Hummus and eating it with a side of chopped cucumbers and carrots as a midday snack!

  1. Who said weight loss has to taste bad? So much beautiful food – I’ll probably end up marrying oats one day…

  2. Is there a clean list somewhere of just the foods without the comments amount each food? I appreciate these suggestions and would love to print a list.
