52 Quick Weight Loss Foods

Some foods may be the enemy, but these foods are the heros!

29. Figs

Figs and fiber go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong!

Yup, that’s right! Just like Sandy and Danny from Greese, figs and fiber go hand-in-hand. This is, of course, why they’re such a great food for weight loss.

However, when buying figs, it is important to remember to opt for the fresh ones rather than the dried ones. Fresh figs are significantly lower in both calories and sugar–making them much better for losing weight! Once you buy them, fall in love with them by making our Sweet Ricotta and Fig Toast.

30. Turkey

Turkey is a great protein source for when you’re trying to lose weight because it keeps you full while also fueling those muscles you’ve worked so hard for in the gym. My favorite turkey recipe is also one of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes: Juicy Slow Cooker Turkey Breast.

31. Salmon

Another lean protein that’s worth including in your diet is salmon. Its calories are nutrient-dense, and its omega-3 fatty acids promote weight loss.

Salmon is one of my go-to proteins for dinner and also when going out to eat. With this being said, I eat salmon a lot and I love making different salmon recipes for my family. A few of our favorites have been:

32. Walnuts

Like almonds (which are listed above), walnuts help keep you satiated because they’re high in protein and high in fiber. Walnuts are also like salmon, though, because they’re also full of omega-3 fatty acids.

Researchers also claim that people are more likely to stick to eating diets that are high in healthy fats (like nuts) than they are to eating low-fat diets. With this being said, hop on the walnut, weight loss bandwagon and try our Sweet Potato Quinoa Salad with Walnuts and Raisins.

33. Cinnamon

Adding cinnamon to your meals can lower its glycemic index. As discussed earlier, the lower a food’s glycemic index is, the better the food is for weight loss. This is because low glycemic foods help maintain blood sugar. Steadying your blood sugar throughout the day is known to lead to long-term weight loss.

Cinnamon also helps foods to stay in your stomach longer, which helps you to stay full for longer. Stay full, get lean, and enjoy our Roasted Apple Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes.

34. Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds provide similar weight loss benefits as many other foods on this list. The biggest one: providing the feeling of fullness due to their high amount of fiber. Like chia seeds and salmon (which are also on this list), flaxseeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, which also help you to feel full and, therefore, eat less. An added benefit of omega-3 fatty acids is their ability to help raise good cholesterol.

I can’t seem to think of any negative aspect of eating flaxseeds, which is why I make sure to add them into my diet daily. They’re super easy to add into a lot of recipes and I’ve found that they don’t alter the taste of the foods either. I love blending them into smoothies, like our Wild Blueberry, Mint, and Flax Seed Smoothie, and using them as ingredients in baked goods, like our Pumpkin Spice Bread!

35. Cauliflower

This cruciferous vegetable not only tastes great roasted, steamed, and raw. It’s also a smart addition to your diet if you’re trying to lose weight!

The yummy veggie lacks fat and contains a high amount of vitamin C (which aids in weight loss). Oh, and let’s not forget my favorite way in which cauliflower can aid in weight loss: cauliflower mashed “potatoes”. They are my favorite thing to bring to any holiday table! They taste just as good as mashed potatoes, but have far less carbs and many more nutrients.

If you haven’t tried them, you’re in luck! We have a delicious Creamy Garlic Mashed Cauliflower recipe that you’re sure to fall in love with!

  1. Who said weight loss has to taste bad? So much beautiful food – I’ll probably end up marrying oats one day…

  2. Is there a clean list somewhere of just the foods without the comments amount each food? I appreciate these suggestions and would love to print a list.
