52 Quick Weight Loss Foods

Some foods may be the enemy, but these foods are the heros!

7. Pomegranates

I always thought the best thing about pomegranates was that I could sprinkle the seeds on just about anything to give it that extra burst of flavor. As it turns out, though, the best thing about them is actually their fiber and magnesium because they help fill me up and keep me going for the rest of the day. Because of this and the fact that they’re also low in calories, pomegranates are seen as being great for weight loss!

8. Chicken Soup

I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for a nice bowl of hot soup on a chilly winter night. Chicken noodle soup is known to comfort you while your sick not only because of the warmth and delicious flavors that it provides. Soup is also a great way to sneak in some necessary nutrients to help you fight off your sickness, as well as help you to fill up on lower calorie, higher nutrient dense foods. This would, then, help you to lose that unwanted weight.

Here, at SkinnyMs, we love adding tons of veggies to our chicken soups! We have tons of recipes where we do just that, too! Here are just a few for you to check out:

These slow cooker soups may sound like they’re not very “quick” to make because of the “slow cooker” part of their recipe titles. However, because the slow cooker does all of the work, it’ll feel like your soup is ready in no time! Whenever I cook anything in my slow cooker, I use the time to get anything else I need done. It’s such a time saver!

9. Kale

Kale is low in calories, and since losing weight requires a lower calorie diet, it’s a great food to eat when trying to speed up the weight loss process. Once I started replacing high calorie foods with low calorie foods like kale, my weight loss journey seemed to speed up.

One way that I use kale as a replacement is by choosing kale chips over potato chips. I absolutely love our recipe for 3-Ingredient Parmesan Kale Chips. I mean how can you pass up a snack recipe that only calls for 3 ingredients AND helps you lose weight?!

10. Butternut Squash

This yummy veggie is abundant during the months of fall and winter, which is great because it makes for the perfect side dish or ingredient for any warming meal! I love almost every recipe with butternut squash in it, but one of my all-time favorites is our Twice Baked Butternut Squash recipe. I love slicing it up to serve as a side, but I also can’t help but love eating it as a meal itself!

I feel great about doing so, too, because butternut squash is great for boosting immunity, and fills you up thanks to its high fiber content! I’ll never say no to eating a vegetable that both satisfies my taste buds and my hunger.

11. Quinoa

There has been a lot of hype about quinoa lately, and for good reason! The food is high in fiber and protein, which, like many of the other foods on this list, help to fill you up and keep you satiated. Oh, and let’s not forget that its deliciousness can be enjoyed for every meal! I love enjoying our Butternut Squash and Cranberry Quinoa Salad for lunch or dinner (or both), our Breakfast Quinoa for breakfast (of course), and our Quinoa Almond Joy Bars for a weight loss dessert!

12. Cranberries

That’s right! That recipe for our Butternut Squash and Cranberry Quinoa Salad that I mentioned above has not one, not two, but THREE weight loss foods in it: butternut squash, quinoa, and cranberries! It’s a triple threat!

Cranberries are high in vitamin C, and since research shows that foods high in vitamin C aid in weight loss, cranberries are a great weight loss food! Research also shows that high-fiber foods and high-polyphenol foods are great for losing weight because fiber fills you up while fruits high in polyphenols are known to prevent obesity. I’m telling you this because cranberries are not only high in vitamin C–they’re high in fiber and polyphenols too!

If I were you, I’d jump on the cranberry train and start making our triple threat salad for tonight’s dinner and our Dark Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies for dessert!

13. Sweet Potatoes

I am a sucker for a good sweet potato! They are always on my grocery list and, therefore, always in my kitchen! With their ability to balance blood sugar levels, fiber content, and delicious taste, they’re always on my plate too!

They’re great as sides, ingredients for whole meals, and even as dessert ingredients! Don’t believe me? Try these recipes: Nacho Stuffed Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Potato and Zucchini Casserole, Easy 2-Ingredient Sweet Potato Pancakes, Sweet Potato Cookies.

14. Grapefruit

This tangy fruit can help you lose weight in many ways. It is known to boost metabolism, fill you up and keep you satisfied, and curbs other cravings. Researchers even say that just smelling grapefruit can aid in weight loss!

I’m not too sure of that one, but I do know that eating it does the trick! Try our Broiled Salmon with Avocado Grapefruit Salsa for that grapefruit fix.

  1. Who said weight loss has to taste bad? So much beautiful food – I’ll probably end up marrying oats one day…

  2. Is there a clean list somewhere of just the foods without the comments amount each food? I appreciate these suggestions and would love to print a list.
